Automated Printing systems, also known as “wall printer”, “mural machine” or “wall art machine”, is a kind of inkjet printer that can print directly on the wall or other vertical surfaces with high precision.
However, wall printers have only been around for a few years. As these high-tech products have hundreds of parts, assembling and debugging them requires our engineers to spend hours/days/weeks/months to complete. Printer users also need to receive several hours of operation training from our senior engineers to grasp the machine. Otherwise, even a small problem can lead to the printer becoming unusable!

Common Problems with Automated Printing Systems or Wall Printers

1. Wall Printer Fails to Print

Wall printers not printing is a common issue many customers may encounter during use. If your Magic wall printer does not print, you can troubleshoot from the following causes:

Hardware Problem
First, check that the power supply is connected correctly. Pay attention to the printer’s power indicator. If it does not light up, try replacing the power cord or power outlet. If the issue persists, it may be a power module failure, and you need to contact us promptly.
Printer and Computer Connection Problems
In the printing software (BetterPrinter), confirm that the USB icon is displayed in the lower-left corner. If it is not displayed, check whether the USB cable is properly connected and not damaged. Try using a different USB port if necessary. If none of this works, contact our engineers for assistance.
Mechanical Failure
Check whether the timing belt is tight and ensure the six-head wheel is not loose or aging.
Software Problems
Incorrect print settings may also lead to printing issues. For example, if the print image height exceeds the machine’s limit or the print head is not in the home position, the machine will not print. Always confirm the print height and reset the machine to the home position before printing.
2. Incorrect Colors
Incorrect colors in prints may be caused by several factors:
Ink Problems
Printing Setup Problems
The wrong color mode setting (e.g., not using CMYK) can lead to color deviations. Check the Ultraprint software’s color management settings for accuracy. If unsure, contact us for assistance.
3. Color Crosstalk
Incorrect Ink
Color crosstalk can happen due to:
For example, adding red ink to a yellow cartridge will cause crosstalk. In this case, you need to extract all the ink and add the correct color ink.
Internal Ink Stringing in the Printhead
This may occur if there’s improper pressure when pumping ink. Always ensure the ink cartridge cover is loosened during ink pumping to allow air to flow.
4. Print Head Does Not Spray Ink
This issue may be caused by either:
Board Card Problems
The board card may not have power, which can prevent the print head from functioning.
Print Head Problems
The print head could be clogged. Try replacing the print head and check the connections to the board. Ensure the board has sufficient power (24V-42V) and replace the board if needed.
5. White Stripes on Printed Images
This issue may occur if the feathering setting is incomplete, or the image quality is low. It may also be caused by an offset printing position. If the issue persists, please contact our engineers.
6. Machine Body Trembling
This may be caused by:
7. Poor Printing Accuracy
This could be due to:
8. Print Head Touching the Wall
This happens when the print head is too close to the wall or the sensor is not functioning correctly. Ensure a 5cm gap between the head plate and the wall, and check the sensor settings before printing.
9. Can the Wall Printer Work on Uneven Walls?
The machine can print on walls with protrusions less than 3mm. For larger protrusions, printing is not recommended.
10. How Long Does the Print Last?

Magic wall printers can produce prints that last over 10 years indoors without fading. Outdoor prints can last 3-6 years without a protective coating.

11. What to Do If Printing Stops Mid-Job?
First, determine the cause of the stoppage. If it is a computer issue, do not move the machine and you can resume printing after the power is restored. If there is a complete power failure, reprinting is suggested.
12. Why is the Image Color Dull?
For prints on a dark background, use spot color printing. On a white background, increase the brightness in Photoshop before printing.
13. Printer Does Not Move Smoothly
This issue could be due to a loose motor belt or aging wheels. Check the connection between the slider and the guide rail for friction.
